Introduction
Brown University Graduate School is committed to prioritizing diversity, inclusion, and belonging prior to prospective students even applying and beginning with recruitment. Our graduate programs invite scholars with an interest in pursuing a Ph.D., to visit campus and explore academic, social and professional opportunities.
Brown Graduate School Doctoral Preview Day 2025 will take place on October 19-20, 2025.

Eligibility
: This program is intended for prospective students, specifically domestic students, currently residing in the United States & Territories with an interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in the upcoming Fall 2025 application cycle. Open to all scholars, this program may be of special interest to prospective graduate students of color
and/or
scholars who display distinguished commitment and promise to enhance Brown's commitment to supporting diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of University life — recognizing that these values are essential to carrying out Brown’s mission of education and research with excellence.
You can detail your potential contributions to the Brown community through your short essay response on your potential contributions to the Brown community. Within your submission, you may also provide
details of lessons learned
from any of your lived experiences including but not limited to
being a first-generation college student or graduate (no parent/guardian completed a baccalaureate degree)
being racialized as someone who identifies with racial/ethnic backgrounds (such as Black or African American, Indigenous, Hispanic and/or Latine/x, and/or Southeast Asian) historically excluded from and underrepresented in graduate education
managing a disability or chronic health condition
experiencing housing, food, economic, and/or other forms of significant insecurity
being a solo parent
identifying with a gender and/or sexual orientation historically underrepresented in a field of study
having served in the military
holding DACA, refugee, TPS or asylee status, and/or identifies as undocumented
being from a mixed-status family
The deadline to apply is August 15, 2025.
Lastly, we will continue to pay close attention to the Brown University COVID-19 Campus Safety Policy and will be in touch should any of our Doctoral Preview Day plans change in the coming weeks due to COVID restrictions.
